The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus is arguably the sweet spot of the S24 lineup. For years, the "Plus" model felt like a stretched-out base S24 with a bigger price tag. But with the S24+, Samsung brought back elite features—like a QHD+ resolution and 12GB of RAM—making it feel closer to the Ultra than ever before, but for $300 less and in a much more comfortable form factor.

The Quick Verdict

If you don't need the S Pen, the titanium build, or the 5x periscope zoom lens of the Ultra, the S24 Plus is the smartest flagship purchase in Samsung's lineup. It delivers 90% of the Ultra experience with better ergonomics.

Key Strengths & Weaknesses

Pros Cons
Elite QHD+ LTPO Display: Gorgeous, sharp, and hits a blazing 2,600 nits peak brightness. Recycled Camera Hardware: The sensors are physically identical to the S23+ and S22+.
Generous RAM Upgrade: Now comes standard with 12GB RAM (up from 8GB). Charging Speeds: Tops out at 45W, which is slow compared to Chinese competitors.
Fantastic Ergonomics: Rounded corners make it much easier to hold than the blocky S24 Ultra. Silicon Fragmentation: Depending on your region, you get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the Exynos 2400.
Massive Battery Life: The 4,900 mAh battery easily powers through a full day of heavy use. AI Features Can Be Gimmicky: While "Circle to Search" is great, some photo-editing tools still feel experimental.

1. Display & Design: Back to Premium

Samsung finally treated the Plus like a true premium phone. The screen is a stunning 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X that supports a variable 1–120Hz refresh rate (LTPO). Even better, it drops the standard Full HD resolution of previous generations and bumps it back up to a crisp Quad HD+.

Physically, the bezel shrinkage means you get a slightly larger screen in nearly the exact same footprint as the S23+. The flat Armor Aluminum edges look modern and clean, resembling the iPhone's aesthetic.

2. Performance & Battery: A True Workhorse

The jump to 12GB of RAM pays off immediately in multitasking and keeping heavy apps open in the background.

  • US/Canada/China: Powered by the stellar Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.

  • Global/Europe: Powered by the Exynos 2400. While Exynos has historically had heat and throttling issues, the 2024 iteration is highly competitive, though it can still run slightly warmer than the Snapdragon under sustained gaming.

The 4,900 mAh battery is a beast. Thanks to the more efficient LTPO display and processor, it consistently outlasts the S24 Ultra in screen-on-time tests, regularly pushing into a second day of light-to-moderate use.

3. Cameras: Good, But No Progress

If there is one letdown, it is the camera setup. The hardware is exactly the same as last year: a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP 3x optical telephoto.

While the new image-processing pipeline improves color accuracy and reduces over-sharpening, the physical sensors are starting to show their age compared to competitors utilizing larger 1-inch type sensors or better telephoto glass. It takes great everyday photos, but don't expect a massive leap forward from an S23+ or S22+.

4. Software: 7 Years of Support

The S24+ ships with One UI (built on Android 14) and comes with an industry-leading 7 years of major OS and security updates. It also introduces Galaxy AI, featuring "Circle to Search" (the standout feature), real-time call translation, and generative photo-editing tools that are fun to use, even if some feel like work-in-progress novelties.
